911 Match Report

I arrived at the club around 730 am to start setting up the course. with in a short time a few shooters started to roll up under the shade trees. Jim C and Jim R showed up first if i remember correctly and helped out with the set up. then Jon B showed up with a big smile who drove all the way down from Eureka near the Oregon boarder. so we continued our conversation while checking all the targets before the match. there will be an air gun show in Roseville (near Sacramento) March 5th and 6th, 2011, and Jon is in charge of it. he can be reached at 707-498-8714 or
pae@pacificairgunexpo.com
the event should be a fun one, and everyone needs to spread the word. more to follow later. then Ernie showed up from the Grass Valley area.

about 900am i got a call from Tony I. hey where are ya i said. he replied "i am in traffic, and it ain't moven". LOL. i said not to worry and to call up Guy O from the bay area and find out where he is. got a call back shortly there after and both are in minutes of the shoot, and all looks very good. a total of 7 shooters this time and over 10 shooters in the pipe line. the club is growing but we need to hit 50 shooters by July 1st, 2011. so a great deal of work to do yet in the promoting dept.

around 1030am the Blue Angles flew over, and i managed to get some incredible shots with the camera. as it turned out, Mather Air Force base just 2 miles away was hosting an air show in memory of the attack on American soil 9 years ago.

all of us got a super big treat as stealth bombers, fighters, f22 rapters, and more flew over head. a very stellar display of American fire power. :)

all the guys had a super great time. i think the air gun talk is at least 1/2 the reason why gunners like us get together. we had a nice BBQ and the links and grill were provided by Tony I. so a big thank you Tony. Jim R brought some of his wife's home made cookies. mmmmmm those were tasty !!!!!!!!! thank you Jim. combined with the home made pie you made last time, you are starting to spoil us big time!!

the course was pretty hard this time and the scores reflected it a bit. as a new match director i am finding a balance to the level of difficulty but everyone seemed to like it. shooting open ground is very challenging. Guy O can clean a course. i had to give him a challenge, and he seemed to think it was with one exception being that the targets could have been placed a few yards further on the 4 or 5 of the longest ones. Guy was the match winner with a score of 41/44. he forgot to click on one target missing a 3/8 inch KZ at close range, plated a standing shot, and missed one of the further targets as it split on the edge. very nice shooting Guy and may your trip to the Nationals be fruitful.

Jim C took 1st place in hunter and is dominating that division. he has been at the club since the day it opened. thanks Jim for your continued support. Jim R has also been with us since the begging in a round a bout way. he showed the first time just to check us out. thank you also for your support and help on the course setting up and everything. you guys are much appreciated.

Ernie brought some site in target and donated them to the club. thank you very much Ernie. that is a very nice thing to do. Ernie has just started shooting f/t and dove right in with both hands and doing fantastic shooting along side shooters who have been doing this for a long time. great job. poi was off with Ernies rifle this match. back to the drawing board and look for him to easily improve next time.

Tony I won Pistol and Open class and is also winning a great deal at Golden State. he kicked off the season in winning the Tin Man award. one is being made and i shall present it to him when oppertunity arises. i will save that for another write up. he has helped out in getting the shooters here and spreading the word about Golden State f/t. we need everyone to help out in that area. we have a fun group and need more shooters to make it that much more fun!!
