NorCal Regional Grand Prix

we have had some fantastic feed back regarding the air gun NorCal Regional Grand Prix in the Sacramento area to include Concord.  so i just wanted to say thank you everyone for the votes of confidence ranging from a Board member of AAFTA to the most beginner shooter in the line up. NorCal (NCAGC.com) will be putting this on every year.

what makes the Grand Prix so exciting to shooters is the fact that they do not have to travel long distances to compete in a Grand Prix, especially if they can't get away for a whole weekend and spend lots of money traveling and hotel fees and match fees.  four venues are with in a 100 mile radius in the area. shooters can compete in more than one class if they want to also, and they can add a friend to their entry fee of only 20 dollars.  they can always improve their score by going back and competing again. at the same time it creates more desire for shooters to attend an AAFTA National event or Grand Prix. it promotes the area, increases club turn outs, more friendships, and more competition.. all for non profit. all monies and prizes are given back to the shooters. 100%

i have been competing in field Target since the spring of 2009. i have been to a great many clubs and venues over the years to include Nationals, Regionals, and State matches, and i am thoroughly convinced that training at these four venues can get shooters ready for a National event. or one could partake in the event just to enjoy meeting new people and enjoying friendly competition and contributing to the sport as with most of the participants.

NorCal Regional Grand Prix Match

NorCal Air Gun Club is proud to announce we have twenty shooters signed up so far for the year long event ending on December 1st, 2016. every shooter gets to add a friend to the Grand Prix so the number of registered participants could be much higher. based on that, the projected  amount of shooters should be 30 or more if everyone gets a friend to join the event. so everyone please get a friend to join in on the fun.the idea is that each of the four venues will have a larger number of participants at each club. so far it seems to working. at the Ione match Sunday, NorCal showed up  with four shooters to support the event, which probably would not have happen otherwise, and the same happen at NorCal at the previous match.

there will be a grace period for those that attended for their scores to be counted in the Grand Prix. so  please contact Ronnie, and he will add the shooter to the roster.

thank you everyone for participating in the NorCal Regional Grand Prix. it's fun and exciting to see the  Area grow  and expand the number of Field Target shooters.

the shooters highest match score from each of the four venues will count for the Grand Prix: NorCal, Ione, Diablo, and Yolo. please call or email for any questions one might  have.

Ione had its first Match Sunday. the weather was cold, rainy and windy but turned out to be a great day as the temperature warmed up by late morning. Ronnie has posted the results to those in the Grand Prix. just click the link bellow.

Nor Cal Regional Grand Prix Match Report Saturday March 26

The weather was brisk in the morning with winds up to 12 MPH. by the time the course was set, Ronnie looked up and there where 15 shooters talking air guns and the like. it sure where nice to see all the happy faces and nearly all the shooters entered into the NorCal Regional Grand Prix. WOW!!! what a nice surprise and thank you all for that on behalf of NorCal Air Gun Club. the event runs until December 1st.

what a great day and a very special surprise was when Jim C returned to the nest and brought Frank W ready to knock down some targets. also was when Jim P. brought his wife Louisa to cheer us on, and hopefully next time she can show us how its really done, and join in on the fun

it where apparent that a great many shooters where getting ready for the Moro Bay Spring Gun Match April 16th and 17th. it looks like these guys are ready!

The wind calmed down to a steady 6-7 MPH and gust to 10 plus with periods of light wind in between. a very challenging day but Jim c and Fred B didn't waiver with their spring guns ending with a pretty high score. they got teamed up and from start to finish it was neck and neck till the last lane when Jim C gave up an easier point on a crow target. thinking he had his chance at Fred, Fred takes his turn at the lane and does the same. tied again.

Gabriel brought two new shooters into the sport shooting WFTF, and has done a super fine job at getting them ready for competition. he has worked with Max and Badam quite a bit as everyone could tell.

Poor old Scott had only scored 2 points after the first 3 lanes. hats off to him for shrugging it off and coming on strong in the end.

the Crosman Challenge is going on as well. shooters get an additional 100 points if shooting in a Grand Prix according to Chip at Crosman, and all the scores if shooting a Crosman/Benjamin rifle will count for the Challenge as well.

Thank you everyone for attending and making the match a very special one. we are planning a BBQ at the next match. Ronnie is currently working on a calendar for The NorCal Regional Grand Prix to include all the dates and venues on one schedule.  the plan is to post it in the next day or two.

down load the registration form here and turn in to your Match Director at your next shoot, or preferably send it in to Ronnie Easton. wheelscroller@gmail.com   Ronnie got the Grand Prix fee down to 20 dollars, and one can add a shooter (friend) for FREE to the Grand Prix. whats also new and exciting is a shooter can add another class now with no additional fee. its all included in the entry fee of 20 dollars.  it will be real fun and hope others join in.
100 % of the proceeds go to the shooters in the way of awards and or prizes.

Our first Match with the new Name. Nor Cal Air Gun Club ( NCAGC)

The weather was fantastic here in Sacramento on Saturday!! we just couldn't ask for better conditions for a late November shoot. it had to be in the 70's all  day.  the morning was a little brisk but just as we finished setting the course, the warm sun was hitting our backs.

we had 3 squads for a total  of 6 shooters. i think if we had another 4, we would be getting real close to our  goal of 12 shooters participating on a regular basis.  Hats off to Chris and Gabriel for driving up. we had a few more who wanted to attend but couldn't make it this time.  so thanks for considering attending the match. you know who you are.

Now that Scott is our Match director, Ronnie will be having more energy to write the Match Reports. it  sure is nice having a group of guys you can hand off some responsibility to and are happy to take it on. so a big thank you to everyone.

we had a few problems with some targets. the two owls on the posts needed to be secured better. we know what to do now on those for future matches. we also wanted to mount two other targets on pavers that had staked into the ground. we are correcting that. also, the crow UK knock down target, was loose on the mount and needs an adjuster screw to be installed to correctly set the paddle at the proper angle. so Scott took them home and is working on these for the next match. a big thank you there Scott. combined with  the tank targets he made for the club and repairing issues on targets, he is a credit to the club and am super proud to  have you on board and very worthy of his new title as MD.

then there is Worran and Fred. both arrive early on a regular basis and put fresh paint on targets and taped kill zones with paper thin yellow masking tape. i must say, it is nice. Fred is also our prized painter for the face plates. he is amazing. pictured is one face plate made by Dick Otton. these things are bomb proof!

sight  in started at 9am. we began the match  around 9.45 leaving plenty of BSing to go around. get a few air gunners together and the talking never stops till its time to get serious, although there were plenty of laughs through out  the day on the course.

the wind was good for the sight in and for the first 5-6 lanes. the last 5 or 6 presented some challenging shots as the wind was changing directions between shots. the course was set pretty challenging to begin with but adding some wind into the equation made it super fun. we all did great.

Scott and Ronnie scored 7/8 of the standing and kneeling lanes which I personally was very proud of. great shooting Scott. you are on your way.

Fred performed his usual or there a bouts ending with a 44/52 and tied with Scott for 1st place in Hunter class. next time there will be a shoot off. Warron was close behind with a 41. Warron had missed a couple in the standing he normally doesn't do. close game you guys. catching Fred is a feet in its self. so keep it up.

as for Chris and Ronnie, well Ronnie got Chris by only 2 points, but with the target issues we had,  a rematch is needed. they gave Ronnie 1 point for the crow not working properly and another when one of the owls wasn't fastened properly. so who knows. Chris missed a couple in the kneeling but looking at his knee it was no wonder why. he had injured it at work a day or so before the match. Gabriel was getting his sub 12 fpe LG 110 all set up as it is pretty new. i don't know exactly what his score was but i believe it were a 38. hate to see him when he is all dialed in next spring. he has typically done little better with his beloved EV2 that was stolen a couple months back.

the most important thing is that we all had a blast shooting together, and we all hooked up  at a burger place for some lunch afterwards. thank you guys for that.
